George Henry Stanton IV was born on July 10, 1991 to George Stanton III and Taneesha Sajna. When George was first born he boldly urinated on the nurse in the room. Little did they know that boldness would follow George out throughout his short life. George grew up living on the south side of Chicago with his mom, great grandmother, and sometimes grandmother. By the time George reached kindergarden, he was able to write clearly, speak fluently, and read books at a 3rd grade level. His great grandmother always said that he had unlimited potential. At age 7 he moved to Marietta, Georgia because his mom wanted to attend school out there. He attended 2nd grade there and continued his happy childhood as a child. Before 3rd grade Taneesha moved back to Chicago due to some financial woes. At age 13, George became a hero. At a routine visit to his grandmother's house, George noticed that the house was smoking. Although his mother was there, she was not small enough to fit thru the front window. Noticing this, George quickly hopped into the house thru the front window. He searched around for minutes and finally found his grandmother down on the floor as she had slipped while trying to get out. He swiftly opens the door for his mom and they both helped his grandmother out of the house. Although the fire was no more than an over-cooked pie, George showed his strength and courage by vaulting into the building. Over time George grew into a young man and before he knew it, George was a senior in high school attended one of the best schools in America, Whitney Young Magnet High. On August 29th, 2008, George was hit by a serious attack of sickle cell anema. George fought for his life every day after he was diagnosed, until September 5th, 2008 when he is lost. George was a great son, friend, scholar, and most importantly a great man. We will all mourn his loss but we will also celebrate his great life.
